New this week (2/20/13):

Three of the new movies this week will be shown in our Thursday afternoon film series in March, therefore, they will not be available for checkout until they have been screened here in the library. End of Watch

Two young officers are marked for death after confiscating a small cache of money and firearms from the members of a notorious cartel, during a routine traffic stop. 

Laura (1944)

A beautiful young woman named Laura is found murdered shortly before her wedding to a dashing young playboy. Stirred by her portrait and adoring descriptions by her admirers, the detective assigned to her case finds that he is strangely under Laura's spell. 

Only Angels Have Wings  (1939)

This is the story of the men working for a South American mail and freight business in the 1930s. They are trying to win a lucrative government contract to carry mail, and must perform satisfactorily despite bad weather, injuries, poor cash flow and a woman trying to win the boss's heart. 

Sinister

Ten years ago, true crime writer Ellison Oswald made his reputation with a best-selling account of a notorious murder. Now, desperate to replicate the success of his first book, he moves his family into a home where the previous occupants were brutally executed and a child disappeared, hoping to find inspiration in the crime scene. In the home, Ellison discovers a cache of terrifying home movies, unwittingly opening the door into a nightmarish mystery. 

Top Hat  (1935)

Rogers and Astaire are caught up in a mistaken identity plot, in which Rogers assumes that Astaire is already married, and is alternatively charmed and repelled by his advances. 

Trouble with the Curve

Intelligence, Season 1 (Canadian)

After twelve-year-old Cyril's single father rejects him, the compassion of a stranger who agrees to take care of him helps him move forward.

Mobile (British)

Police are baffled as cell phone users are being shot in the middle of their conversations and mobile phone towers are being blown-up throughout England. This four-part thriller reveals a terrorist plot with a ruthless millionaire in the middle of it.

Perks of Being a Wallflower

A high school freshman, always watching from the sidelines, is taken under the wings of two seniors who welcome him to the real world.

Robot & Frank

Frank is an aging ex-jewel thief, and his two grown children are worried that he can no longer care for himself. In deciding what to do with Frank, the most likely option appears to be putting him in a nursing home. But Franks’ son comes up with another option: buy Frank a walking, talking robot programmed to look after him and improve his physical and mental health. Frank resists the robot at first, but he warms to it after realizing that it could be the perfect heist companion.

Adam’s Rib  (1949)

Domestic and professional tensions mount when a husband and wife work as opposing lawyers in a case involving a woman who shot her husband. 

Alex Cross

This film follows the young homicide detective/psychologist as he meets his match in a serial killer. The two face off in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, but when the mission gets personal, Cross is pushed to the edge of his moral and psychological limits in this taut and exciting action thriller. 

Celeste and Jesse Forever

Celeste and Jesse have been best friends since they can remember. High school sweethearts, they eventually got married--and now they're getting divorced. While their friends don't think the couple can stay friends after the divorce, Celeste and Jesse are determined to prove them wrong. But when Jesse begins dating again, Celeste finds it harder to move on than she thought it would be. 

Flight

A seasoned airline pilot miraculously crash lands his plane after a mid-air catastrophe, saving nearly every soul on board. Here Comes the Boom

Little White Lies  (French)

The Shield, Seasons 3 and 4

Television series of an inner-city Los Angeles police precinct where some of the cops aren't above breaking the rules or working against their associates to keep both the streets safe and their self-interests intact. In this season (3), after scoring big with the money train, the Strike Team plays it cool to avoid arousing suspicion as Dutch and Claudette investigate the robbery and murder of two Armenian gangsters. Tensions are stretched even further when Vic finds himself at odds with his team as they face a bitter rivalry with the new Decoy Squad. But hostilities are quickly forgotten when Captain Aceveda reveals that the Strike Team is the target of an Armenian mob hit.
